Tulip Time Festival
April 30 through May 9, 2021

Holland, MI –  Skerbeck Entertainment Group will open the carnival midway at the Tulip Time Festival – with significant reduction in capacity – beginning April 30, 2021 at the Civic Center Parking Lot in downtown Holland.  After being shut down in 2020 due to the global pandemic, Skerbeck Entertainment Group is opening in using a deliberate, responsible approach.

The current MDHHS Emergency Order allows for Outdoor Gatherings with restrictions; therefore, aspects of the carnival midway have been re-examined, with new policies following guidance from health experts and government agencies.

In addition to limits on attendance and controlled guest density, new procedures are in place for carnival entry, attractions, and dining.

Online Early Purchasing for Ride Wristbands

To promote physical distancing, capacity at the midway is limited and attractions are spaced further apart. A limited number of daily ride wristbands are available for sale online, prior to the event for purchase.  Guests purchasing ahead of time will be able to ensure their admission given limited capacity and skip the queue line at the midway entrance.

Health and Safety Procedures

New measures include:

  • Appropriate Face Coverings – Guests and staff are required to wear an appropriate face covering. They must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times, except when eating and drinking in the designated dining area.  Individuals unwilling to comply with the face covering requirement will be asked to leave the carnival midway area.
  • Physical Distancing and Capacity Measures – Ground markings are placed to identify proper physical distancing throughout the midway, including attraction queues. Physical barriers are in place in select locations where maintaining a proper physical distance from others may be difficult.
  • Cleanliness – High-traffic and dining areas are receiving increased cleaning. Guests are encouraged to frequently use hand sanitizer available throughout the midway.

Dining Procedures

Food concession service are different at this year’s festival.  Designated dining areas are established inside the carnival midway area as well as at the walk-up concession area on 8th Street.  These areas are limited in capacity and egress based on available seating in order to keep people socially distanced and to prevent mingling of groups of people while eating.   Skerbeck food concessions utilize mobile technology to allow for optional contactless ways to view menu items, order food, and pay using credit or debit cards.

How does online purchasing work?

Carnival sessions are available for each day of the carnival with two sessions available on Saturdays and the first Sunday.  Online purchase availability will end at 8AM the day of each wristband, or earlier if the event capacity is sold out.  Online shopping cart wristbands are capped to only 500 for each session in order to ensure adequate social distancing can be maintained.  Guests presenting their receipt from online purchase will be able to immediately enter the carnival midway.

In the event that carnival sessions are NOT sold out, guests will still have the opportunity to purchase in person at the entrance to the carnival midway.  However, in person sales are dependent on the maximum number of guests on-site at any point in time and queue lines to enter could be long.  Guests relying on in-person purchases are NOT guaranteed access to the carnival midway due to capacity restrictions, and are required to maintain social distancing and mask requirements while waiting to enter the carnival midway.

What is the wristband time length?

Carnival sessions are defined with a fixed start and end time each day.  Wristbands are valid for the time period of the carnival session ONLY.  There will be no exchanges or refunds for individual sessions.  When a carnival session ends, the wristband is no longer valid and guests will be required to leave the carnival midway area.

What is the re-entry policy?

This is a new policy for the carnival midway this year and is necessary to ensure compliance with the capacity and social distance restrictions.  Guests who exit the carnival midway during their ride session will NOT be allowed re-entry.  This year, the carnival midway has a separate entrance and exit to the midway and guests will be counted at both locations.

What is the refund policy?

There are no refunds for any reason.  Common requests will all be denied and include things like:  inclement weather, illness, changed mind, police emergency shut down, and potentially could include guests who are non-compliant with face mask and social distance requirements.

Important information related to COVID19

Inherent risk of exposure to COVID19 exists in any public place where people are present.  COVID19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death.   Event entrance is capacity restricted in order to maintain social distancing requirements.  Attendees are required to properly wear a face mask at all times and maintain group 6 foot social distancing from others.  This is required while queued to enter the event and within the midway unless seated and dining in the designated dining area.  Increased sanitation and hand sanitizers will be placed at strategic locations.  If you are considered a “high-risk” individual, have recently been exposed to an individual with COVID19, or do not feel well, you are encouraged to stay at home.  By visiting the carnival midway, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID19.
